Sarah Antor is the founding General Partner at Helena Capital. After a career spanning three decades in banking, law and technology, Sarah brings a wealth of expertise across the entire lifecycle of a business. She began her career in capital markets as a high-yield debt Research Analyst, completing her Series 6, 7, 63 and 65 certifications and the level 1 CFA exam before entering law school. In 2003, she joined the Office of South Carolina’s Governor Mark Sanford, drafted legislation for the first Venture Capital Program for the state as a fund of funds structure and steered economic development with the state’s largest trading partner, Bavaria, Germany. Four years later, Sarah accepted a role at German law firm BridgehouseLaw serving corporate clients, primarily OEMs in automotive, aerospace, and their supply chains in their transatlantic expansion and relocated to Munich. She very quickly found her niche supporting startups in these sectors along with fintech, automation and advanced manufacturing space with operations and partnerships on both sides of the Atlantic. She also served as General Counsel to fintech startup Payworks ahead of its sale to Visa.
Sarah was tapped in 2018 to lead the European investment banking division of Raymond James (NYSE:RFJ) as COO Europe and she served as CEO of the German subsidiary through 2021. During her tenure, she was a member of the global IC for European M&A deals and the division grew from <$40m to over $100m in annual revenue. Sarah regularly negotiated engagement letters on behalf of the Bank. After leaving her post, she became an active angel investor and advisor to multiple tech companies (incl. AWS, Hawk: AI, ServiceNow, ADI, Dell and others) on regulatory matters as well as more commercial matters such as sales, operations and partnerships.
Sarah holds a B.A. in economics (business minor) and B.A in organizational behavior from Tulane University and a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She was Adjunct Professor of law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität and of business at the EU Business School in Munich and is fluent in German. She lives in Munich with her husband and three daughters.
